Abstract

В статье представлены сведения о создании в 1959 году художественно-графического факультета Витебского педагогического института, Витебского художественного музея; участии преподавателей факультета в учебно-воспитательном процессе, организации и проведении ими художественных выставок, защите дипломных работ, творческой деятельности в городе. Автор статьи - один из организаторов, основателей факультета, популяризатор деятельности творческой молодежи. = Data of numerous Belarusian newspaper articles which dwell upon the foundation (in 1959) and first years of work of the Art Faculty of Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute (University) are presented in the article. The preconditions of establishing the Art Museum of Vitebsk, participation of the Faculty teachers in aesthetic upbringing of youth, conducting artistic exhibitions are shown. Considerable attention is drawn to articles on student affairs – exam results, diploma paper defense, setting out exhibitions etc. First “steps” in the Art Faculty history were not only extremely interesting for the public, found reflection in the Republic and Region mass media but also demonstrated the significance and demand in specialists who the Faculty trained. Mass media also paid attention to the fact of the intensification of artistic activities in Vitebk, to the emergence of a number of young artists who later became the honour of the famous Vitebsk art school. It should be pointed out that the author of the article was not only one of the founders of the Art Faculty but also made great attempts, in the late 1950-s – early 1960-s, to popularize its activities as a journalist and a scholar.
